Gain a good understanding of proper pump installation maintenance and troubleshooting.

Reliability Centered Maintenance has become a major focus in the industrial sector, pumping systems are used in virtually every industry from water wastewater, steel, pulp and paper to power generation. Incorrect installation, operation and maintenance of these pumping systems can result in a negative impact on plant bottom line.

Mean-times-between failures of centrifugal pumps in the industrial sector range from 6 months to as much as 15 to 20 years depending on the application. Short MTBFs can be the result of issues or parameters that ‘someone' either misunderstood or chose to disregard. Many pump failure incidents can be avoided or addressed before becoming problematic by establishing a defined maintenance program and best practices.

Learning Objectives

  • You will be able to describe failed pump components and determine cause of failure.
  • You will be able to identify failure modes of a vertical and centrifugal pump and understand the root cause of failure.
  • You will be able to recognize a symptom vs. an installation related issue.
  • You will be able to discuss the ability to justify potential corrective measures to management.
